                                                           Live With Enthusiasm

                                                           ================================ 

 

                 Youth is not time of life. It's a state of mind

          It's a temper of the will. a quality of the imagination,

          a vigor of the emotions, a predominance of courage over timidity,

          of the appetite for adventure over love of ease.

 

                                   

                 Nobody grows old by merely living a number of years.

          People grow old only by deserting their ideals.

          Years Wrinkle the skin. but to give up enthusiasm wrinkle the soul.

          Worry, doubt, self-distrust, fear and despair.....

          These bow the head and turn the growing spirit back to dust.

         

                  Whether 60 or 16, there is in every being's heart the love of wonder,

          the sweet amazement at the star and the starlike things and thoughts,

          the undaunted challenge of events, the unfailing childlike appetite for

          what-next, and the joy of the game of living.

               

                  You are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt; as young as

          your self-confidence, as old as your fear; as young as your hope,

          as old as your despair.

 

                  

                  So long as your heart receive messages of beauty, cheer, courage,

          grandeur and power from the earth. from man and from the infinite,

          so long as you young.

 

                    

                  When the wires are all down, and all the central places of your heart

          are covered with the snows of pessimism and the ice of cynicism,

          then, and only then, are you grown old indeed, and may God have   

                  mercy on your soul.

                                      청춘이란 인생의 어느 한 시기를 말하는 것은 아니다.

                                      그것은 마음의 상태인 것이다. 그것은 의지의 硬度 이며,

                                      상상력의 질 이며,감정의 强度 이며.비겁한 것에 대한 용기의 승리이며,

                                      즐기는 것에 대한 모험심의 우월인 것이다.

 

                                      여러해 동안 살았다구 해서 늙는 사람은 없다. 사람이란 그들의 이상을

                                      포기할때 비로소 늙는 것이다. 세월은 피부를 주름지게 하지만 열성을

                                      저버리는 것은 마음의 주름을 지게 하는 것이다.

                                      걱정,의심,자기불신,공포 그리구 절망-이런 것들은 머리를 굽히게 하며

                                      자라나는 정신을 다시 흙으로 되돌리게 하는 법이다.

 

                                      나이가 60 이건 16 이건 모든사람의 가슴 한켠에는 驚異에 대한 사랑,

                                      별이나 별과같은 사물과 사상에로의 달콤한 놀라움,주위에서 일어나는 일에

                                      겁없는 도전이 있으며, 다음은 무었이 있을까 하는 무궁무진하며

                                      동심같은 호기심, 그리고 삶의 遊戱 에 대한 喜悅 이 있는 것이다.

 

                                      당신은 당신의 믿음만큼 젊고 의심만큼 늙으며 自信만큼 젊고

                                      공포만큼 늙는 것이다. 그리구 希望 만큼 젊고,절망만큼 늙는 것이다.

 

                                      당신의 가슴이 대지로부터,인간으로부터 그리고 신으로부터 美와 歡呼와

                                      용기와 壯嚴과 그리구 힘의 전갈을 받고 있는한 당신은 젊은 것이다.

 

                                      그 전갈의 전선이 쓰러지고 가슴 중추부가 悲觀의 눈과 냉소의 얼음으로

                                      덮여 있을 때 당신은 늙게 되는 것이며 신의 加護를 빌어야 할 것이다.

 

                                     "일생의 하루 하루를 마치 영원히 살 수 있는것 처럼 살아라."
